Rangers appear content with their goalkeeping options going into 22/23 after it was confirmed this morning long-term target Benjamin Siegrist is likely to move to Celtic as a free agent.
Fellow supposed target, Martin Fraisl, is also likely to be staying at newly-promoted German side Schalke which does appear, for now, as well as former Utd stopper Siegrist, hint that Rangers are to continue with Allan McGregor, Jon McLaughlin and Robby McCrorie for the coming campaign.
Siegrist’s representatives have been contacted by the Parkhead side, and despite many favouring him for a move to Ibrox, it seems Giovanni isn’t interested in his services and he will end up in the east instead.
And we have no idea if Fraisl was just agent talk in the first place, the man’s CV isn’t exactly spectacular, but his agent has suggested Schalke’s promotion is likely to keep him with his present side who he, and we quote, ‘loves’.
Which coupled on top of the fact McLaughlin and McCrorie are both contracted for another 24 months and year respectively does point to Rangers being happy with what they have.
Allan McGregor’s situation remains uncertain till an official announcement one way or the other.
If he is confirmed as staying, that is definitely the shape of the goalies for next term we’d think.
Seems irrelevant given he will be number 2 behind Hart.
