Rangers have been potentially hit with yet more chaos with the seemingly-cursed Dundee match after the Motherwell fixture was threatened with being unable to go ahead either thanks to some aggressive weather forecast in that neck of the woods this weekend.

This would make Dens Park unplayable for the visit of Stuart Kettlewell’s men, with it already being in a state of ‘uncertainty’ at present, and that one had to be called off, it plunges Rangers’ own trip north into yet more chaos.

The SPFL are well-informed of what’s going on up there, and are keen to have a backup plan in place, but that is unlikely to be at Tannadice due to a lack of VAR facilities installed at Dundee United’s Championship venue.

In short, Dundee can’t promise their surface will be ready by the time Motherwell get there in the weekend, and equally can’t assure anyone that Rangers will be playable either.

The best they can do is this watery (pun intended) statement:

“As we all know there has been heavy rainfall in the Dundee area since the start of the week.

“The club have had a full grounds team along with consultants working on the pitch since the postponement of the Rangers match along with all the associated machinery and this will continue right up until Saturday.

“Rain covers will then be put down covering the whole pitch. The club are doing absolutely everything in its power to get Saturday’s match on and is expecting Saturday’s match to go ahead as planned.

“The club are in regular discussions with the league but no decision to move the match away from the Scot Foam Stadium has been made.

“The stories circulating in the media are very much media speculation.”

In short, the stories are because Dundee can’t even remotely assure anyone the pitch will be ready for Saturday, and can’t equally do it for midweek either.

The sooner this dumpster fire of a club sort their stadium out permanently the better.
