Rangers supporters do not believe the club will sign Lawrence Shankland this window, after an Ibrox Noise poll revealed an overwhelming majority think it won’t happen.
On the day after Hearts Chief Executive Andrew McKinley confirmed a new offer is on the table for Shankland amid no external offers received for the striker, Rangers supporters took to the ‘polls’ to offer their thoughts on the club’s chances of nabbing the hitman.
An Ibrox Noise poll, currently sitting at around 3000 votes, has 2424 (83%) believing Shankland will not be wearing a Rangers shirt come next month, with just 477 (17%) thinking he will.
This does say it all for the faith Rangers supporters have in the club’s board to make this signing happen, amid claims (which we can’t substantiate) that the board is divided over the signing and the lack of unity stops any bid being made.
And then we have McKinley:
“We have made an offer to Lawrence. He is already in the higher-paid bracket within the club, but we’ve made him an additional offer and that remains on the table for him to consider.”
Shankland is said to be on around £3,000 at Hearts. He could make a LOT more joining Rangers, and we imagine the new offer is around £5,000. Which is pennies to Rangers.
But the CE has claimed there’s been no offers and no interest in his signature. Which means if Rangers are to go for it, they have a free shot at it.
Shankland would absolutely leap at an offer from our club, but the reality is we don’t appear to be making one – he would cost a fair chunk of change.
Tick it under Lewis Ferguson, Aaron Hickey and Josh Doig, we guess.
