Sources suggest Glen Kamara and Rangers has turned into an acrimonious split, with the Finnish midfielder’s conduct, again, regarded as ‘unacceptable’ by the club’s hierarchy after he was said to have abandoned training amid rumours the club has stopped his salary.
The former Dundee man has not been seen at Auchenhowie at all this summer, despite the manager’s claims he was ‘training separately’, he was not among those to appear preseason to report back on the first day’s return, which may suggest he’s been training on his own away from the Rangers Training Centre.
Rangers, badly, desperately, and immediately need to sell Glen Kamara because this situation has verged on turning a bit ugly – Kamara is no stranger to resorting to legal action, first in the Ondrej Kudela fiasco, then a bizarre statement denying accusations made by the Athletic’s former Rangers man Jordan Campbell.
So we wouldn’t be at all shocked if something here ended up in court, but that’s getting a bit ahead of ourselves.
What is certain is Kamara’s situation is not great, but it’s no different to what he effectively did at Dundee once he got the move to Rangers – he completely downed tools and put his feet up.
Rangers saw similar behaviour, but now he’s not even turning up for training.
Is Kamara trying to get fired? We don’t actually know, that’s not for us to say. But if he was, he’s going the right way about it.
Ever since Michael Beale and he essentially ‘fell out’ (so it seems) Kamara has been desperate to get a move away, but none of the leads (pun intended) have panned out as yet.
There are claims by transfer account the Fourth Official that a deal has been done with Elland Road and it’s waiting on an announcement, but quite why it’s not materialised yet is anyone’s guess.
Either way, for now Rangers have a sensitive situation on our hands and the quicker Glen Kamara is not a Rangers player, the better.
