Fashion Sakala has effectively confirmed his departure from Rangers after posting an Instagram story worded in the past tense and signing off with a video of himself on an airplane.
The striker, 26, has impressed and infuriated Rangers fans in equal measure, and following some days of discussions with a Saudi club or two, appears to have sorted his move out and will be off to the Middle East to play his football.
The bid is said to be around £4M.
The social media post, made this afternoon, shares highlights of his time at Rangers, talking about how we ‘celebrated together’ and his feelings of emotion as he’s ‘sending his kisses to the blue family’ before highlighting his flight to an unstated location (obviously Saudi Arabia).
Manager Michael Beale made it clear to Sakala he was accepting the bid, and the player’s agent was keep to persuade him to make the move.
How do we feel about his exit?
While Rangers were abysmal at Rugby Park, we highly doubt Sakala would have made it any better. For every moment of mad genius the Zambian had, 10 frustrating shambles accompanied it, and while it’s easy to say a departed player would have been so much better, and Sakala’s goal record was half decent, we’re not sure he would have made a big difference to this one.
He wasn’t a player we liked much, and indeed, his conduct in places was pretty poor – he was also rather selfish.
We definitely preferred the gracious Antonio Colak who was amazingly clinical with almost every good chance he got. But, in the end, like Sakala, just wasn’t wanted by the manager.
So he moves on, Rangers move on, and that be that.
Nothing against the lad but I am not going to miss him 1 bit. Now all we need to do is find teams that will buy McLaughlin, Tav, Goldson, Davies, Barisic, Luny, Kamara, Wright & Matondo, shouldn’t be too difficult I don’t think!!! 🤣🤣 💙💙
Sounds like another clearout Janiceblue
