5 goals in 6 – Rangers are missing out on Lawrence Shankland

With Lawrence Shankland grabbing yet another goal, to add to his ridiculous 5 goals in 6 in all competitions this season, there are still some calls from Rangers fans, Ibrox Noise included, to sign the sensationally in form Scotland striker.

This is something we’ve advocated for a long time on Ibrox Noise, and every time Shankland finds the net the case for trying to bring him to Rangers gets stronger.

There is zero doubt this boy would do it in the Scottish Premiership for this club, he has proven himself in Europe, he’s proven himself domestically, and he’s ready to take the step up.

If Rangers were to submit a good honest and fair offer for this lad, he’d be ours.

Our £15M of ‘talent’ up front really hasn’t got going yet, and while Cyriel Dessers did provide a good assist and a spectacular assist v PSV, overall the return from he, Lammers and Danilo isn’t overly stunning.

But Shankland is ready-made. He’s a Ranger in the first place, one of us, and he’s finding the goal like it’s going out of fashion.

He’s scored 3 in Europe already, v PAOK and Rosenborg – that’s pretty much confirmation his spell in Belgium taught him a lot even if it didn’t go great for him.

He’s grown up, he’s matured, and he’s perfect material for Rangers.

Problem is having spent £15M on completely unproven and unknown quantities in the three forwards we got, there’s basically no room for anyone new. Or is there?

So it’s a moot point. A mistake not to go for Shankland? We think so. We think his talent is proven and he’s not only a Ranger but he’s homegrown too, so that helps the UEFA allocation for Europe as well.

There was no case against signing him really.

But there is still time. Sort of.

  1. I’m a big fan of Shankland been saying since last season we should sign him.
He would be scoring for fun if he had our midfield of Cantwell, Raskin & Cifuentes providing him with plenty of service.
Pity we’re not in the market for another forward, Oh well an opportunity missed there I think. 💙💙
