A huge shake up at BT Sports has led to our favourite old troll Chris Sutton losing his job, and while we don’t endorse people being made unemployed, his conduct within the Scottish sector of BT didn’t help endear him to us, albeit he’s not losing his job on performance levels.

No, for those who didn’t know, BT Sport has been taken over by American broadcaster TNT and will be known as TNT Sports going forward in the UK, albeit the branding may remain depending on their preference.

And this means an end to BT Score which was their flagship results show to rival Sky’s all-conquering Soccer Saturday.

Sadly, BT Sport had already lost Scottish Premiership coverage years ago, leaving us saddled with the rotten Sky Sports who have been dreadful for Scottish football for many, many years, while BT’s coverage was colossally superior.

So in terms of Rangers this news doesn’t make much impact at all really, with the only matches of ours seen on BT being European, and that won’t happen again till next season anyway.

But in terms of Sutton, he had it coming. It’s funny really, his performance when it comes to the English Premier League is infinitely measured, infinitely rational and reasonable – but when it comes to Scotland he turns into a 100% troll and simply winds up all things Rangers, and this would be karma on the amount of rubbish he’s spewed our way for years.

That said, a lot of people will lose their jobs at this takeover, with the future unclear on what TNT will do with all the rights they’ve now secured.

BT Sports have been a much better sports broadcaster than Sky for years now, and it would be a shame if this was ripped up and changed so much as to undermine everything that went before.

BT Score will be replaced by a rugby show.

So it’s an end for something, which, as we say, probably doesn’t affect Rangers much at all, but it may mean a bit less trolling from Sutton in the direction of all things Ibrox.

Time will tell.
