Jurgen Klopp can barely contain his excitement at facing the Famous Glasgow Rangers

Jurgen Klopp has spoken with absolute joy at the draw for the Champions League with Rangers, and is excited at a ‘proper’ football group, especially the opportunity to face Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men.

The Anfield manager, who recently spoke extolling the club’s virtues as Ben Davies signed for us, was unable to contain his pleasure at this group, and it does seem like every single member of Group A is absolutely thrilled with it.

He said:

“Rangers are a new opponent for us but we know them, too. Their story over the last few years has been really interesting and they did really, really well to qualify for the group stage, given the teams they were up against in the qualifying matches. We also know a couple of their players well. Ryan Kent has had a great development since moving to Scotland and Ben Davies is just starting out on his journey with Rangers, so it will be good to come up against them. The only certainty right now is that all of the six games will be incredibly competitive and really intense. I’m excited about it. It is a proper football group and, like I said, a proper challenge.”

Liverpool have not started this season too well, two draws and a defeat, which is far from the vintage form which pushed City all last season and won the title recently as well, but their European stock is colossal, having made the CL final once more last season, shortly after Rangers were strutting their stuff in Seville.

There is no question the Liverpool draw pulls so many subplots, from Kent, to Davies, to Klopp himself, to the fact it’s the first time we’ve ever played each other, to, obviously, the Steven Gerrard angle.

It’s one of the most intriguing draws we could ever have had.

And Jurgen is champing at the bit to play us.

Bring it on mate!
