Giovanni van Bronckhorst could be ready to unleash Antonio Colak and Alfredo Morelos at last, with Rangers’ trip to PSV on a knife edge.

The manager, who didn’t completely rule the potential of playing the pair together, knows Rangers need to win on the night to make the group stage, and the physicality of Morelos with the goalscoring prowess of Colak could well see its debut in Holland.

Now, we wouldn’t expect Gio to pair them up in the starting XI, because that is really risky these days with packed midfields and stubborn defences, not to mention quick wing play, but if the result isn’t going Rangers’ way with 20+ minutes to go, we fully anticipate Alfie coming on and pairing with the Croatian to give Rangers extra firepower.

Gio has confirmed that while he’s never played that formation before, he would be open to doing so if he needs to ‘force’ it, and that may well be a position he finds himself in the second half at the Philips Stadion.

Chances of starting the two?

If Gio feels he wants to score quickly and even grab a couple, it’s possible the Croat and Colombian will pair up from the first whistle.

But it is more likely to be deployed as a tool later in the match if need be.

We shall wait and see.

  1. This would have been just the game for a fully fit Roofe, another one of them halfway line goals wouldnt go a miss,
I’d love to see Colak and the Buff destroy them

  2. That won’t happen unless we get desperate which obviously I hope doesn’t happen. I think Morelos must feature more this weekend against Hibs. The Celtic match is fast approaching and I’m hoping Morelos will be fully up to speed by then. He won’t be if he gets 15 minutes here and there.
