Could Rangers & Gio make a dramatic change up front?

With the welcome return of El Bufalo at the weekend, getting on the scoresheet in addition to the man he replaced – Antonio Colak, we hope that it’s the first of many for each of these guys this season.

The trouble is, in our current formation, only one of them can play at any given time. Could there then be an argument for Gio to go full on Mike Bassett? We’re not talking about him signing Lambert and Butler, although they’d maybe try a bit harder than Goldson and Kamara. No, we’re wondering whether it’s possible that Rangers will be playing 4-4 (f*****g) -2. If you don’t get the reference by the way, watch Mike Bassett – England Manager, it’s a belter.

Anyhow, though Kilmarnock was a marked improvement, upon looking at some of our recent disappointments, we need as many of our best players on the pitch at once as possible. Clearly Alfie and Antonio (the A team if you will) fall into that category and a 2-man striking partnership between a big Croat and a smaller Spanish speaking marksman sounds familiar – Prso and Novo.

Of course, the way Alfredo plays, naturally, ne could drop into the number 10 role as required, dragging players out of position as he did so well during 55. We could then have a fully fit Kent on the left of midfield, with Tillman or Matondo on the other side and plenty of options for a gritty 2-man central midfield.

Of course, at the moment, Morelos is just making his way back from a lengthy spell on the sidelines and Kent is out for the foreseeable. The 4-4-2 (or a variation of) is certainly an option worth considering though and one which may just help Gio put his own stamp even more firmly on the team he inherited 9-months ago.

Regardless of formation though, we could play a 6-1-3 tomorrow night with Sakala in goal and Yilmaz partnering Lundstram and Goldson up front – as long as we win, we don’t care how we do it.
