Kris Boyd yesterday rather sullied his vastly improved reputation by effectively calling Ally McCoist an idiot.
Sorry, we’ll say it straight out, that’s completely out of order.
Whether you agree or not with McCoist and the notion of postponing Hibs to save us for the second leg v Hibs, the logic behind it is fair, and to call a legend of the club an idiot for saying something you don’t agree with is absolutely unacceptable.
We have disagreed with a tonne of things our legends have said in the past, but they always say it with good intentions and with the best of the club in mind, which is all you can ever ask for.
To call any legend an idiot just because they’ve proposed something they believe is in the interests of the club is absolutely insulting, and not what we expect any ex-Ranger to ever say about one of our own.
Boyd himself has said many questionable things and been slated for them, but by fans, never by other figureheads of the club with influence and a position of responsibility.
Boyd, using his paid column in the trashy s*n ‘newspaper’, used the moment to smear McCoist’s suggestion and mock the idea.
It doesn’t matter if you agree or not with Ally, whether or not you believe the match should be called off (we are with him on this as it happens), you do not insult someone with the esteem of McCoist who stood by the club in one of its darkest hours while you were away swanning it up in Canada.
Out of line.
