Hibs have joined Rangers in (understandably) ranting at the SPFL over the Dundee debacle.
Believing the side in 6th above them has gained an unsporting advantage, Nick Montgomery’s men have combined forces with Rangers in venting rage at the governing body’s appalling neglect and incompetence, with the very real possibility Hibs could play their final regular season match before Dundee play Rangers in theirs.
In simple terms? Dundee could go into the Rangers match (if it ever happens) knowing what result they need to get, with Hibs having completed their regular season.
That is literally against the rules, against how the Split works, and the final match of the regular season is meant to be all matches are at the same time, aside the single match played earlier for TV purposes.
In this case, the weekend’s earlier kick off will see Ross County v Rangers, which doesn’t affect midtable, but Motherwell Hibs and Aberdeen Dundee are at the same time, 15:00, but with Dundee gaining that advantage having their game in hand that they may know they can secure 6th with.
It’s absolutely NOT within the bounds of sporting integrity, and yes, that old buzzphrase is back again, not being uttered this time by Liewell himself, but by Hibs in their remonstrations with the SPFL over the Dens Park side gaining this big bonus.
That this chaos has been allowed shows just how staggeringly unfit the SPFL is for purpose, how absurdly badly the game north of the border is run, and how incompetent the hierarchy are.
It’s not often we agree with Hibs, but yes, Sporting Integrity is completely AWOL here and it’s ludicrous.
