SPFL & Dundee negligence threatening to derail Rangers’ season
Utterly ridiculous that this surface got the OK v Motherwell...

There is no question the shambles of Dundee Rangers has been disgracefully handled by both the Dens Park side and the SPFL themselves.

The big part here is how negligent the SPFL and Dundee were, despite Rangers’ dialogue with them offering contingency plans.

Well aware this match could not be fulfilled at Dens, the SPFL deliberately and systematically overlooked Rangers’ multiple contingency offers:

Easter Road, Ibrox, Hampden, closed doors.

Rangers made several key offers to both Dundee and the chiefs at the SPFL and all were ignored and rejected.

Instead, here we are with absolutely no idea if there’s even a 10% chance of this match going ahead at the third attempt.

Unfortunately for Dundee (and Rangers) the weather for next week in Dundee is no better than this was, and another downpour will rule out the slimmest possibility of this match can be played.

Which means there is a ridiculous possibility that a lot of football will get played with this match in the background and the whole league having to wait on the outcome of this before any season resolution can be reached.

This match is the big hold up, the big thorn, and almost the whole of season 23/24 could become dependent on it.

If Rangers haven’t been able to play it, or an outcome hasn’t been reached regarding a forfeit, then the Split becomes invalid.

Dundee are on the cusp of top 6, and while this weekend’s results could help regarding some clarity, there’s a very real possibility the Split will get delayed.

Dundee and their dodgy pitch are literally holding up the destiny of the season, and indeed their own. The match has to be played or a resolution reached or the Split can’t take place.

Why? Because it can’t go ahead with a missing team – Dundee could be top or bottom 6 depending on results, and until we know which, the Split can’t be compiled.

It has become a monumental mess.

And if the SPFL had listened to Rangers it WOULD, not could, have been avoided.

A total shambles.
