Hell with it, why not.

We’re going to do a ratings piece, against all our better judgement, so without further ado, here’s an attempt at a fair scoring card for Rangers’ players this evening in the Dundee disaster:

Butland:

He’s hit some lesser form, sorry, but he has. Malachi Boateng beat him all ends up only for the ball to whistle by inside 30 seconds. Made one messy save and overall looks shaky now. At least it was a clean sheet. 5

Tavernier:

Completely at 6s and 7s, but did not hide and did work hard – managed a few defensive interventions and read the play as much as he could, and got forward to get crosses in. Just lacked any real support. 6

Goldson:

Genuinely looked like he’d rather be anywhere else, looked stressed in the tunnel and offered little. Hid from this match as much as he could. 3

Souttar:

Doing the work of three men today, and honestly can hold his head high. Did little wrong. 6

Sterling:

Wrong position as we know but did the best he could. He did work hard but it’s just not his gig. Offered support wide but his crossing just isn’t a thing, is it? 6

Lundstram:

Clean passing as always but looks completely distracted – he is still putting in the shift he can but he wants his future sorted and it’s turning his head. 5

Lawrence:

Goodness, why he was playing at all was bad enough, but why in this position. Had half the ball of Lunny and only made one good through ball. He has never influenced a single match since joining. 4

Sima:

His passing has markedly improved, and he did put in what he could, but the tactics stopped him being all that effective in truth. 5

Silva:

We’re not even sure he was out there – did manage a few runs but none of them went anywhere, and he was ineffective again. 5

Cantwell:

Wasn’t really in this one, and didn’t react well to being taken off early either. 3

Roofe:

Invisible. Had the least touches of any outfield starter, and had no power to make anything happen. He can’t play as a solo striker and this showed why. 3

Subs:

Dessers:

Managed a good shot (Rangers’ only really good moment in the whole match) that was well saved. 6

Dowell:

Ineffective, a surprise addition. 4

Matondo:

Needed his energy from the start, but he couldn’t save this one. 4

McCausland:

We saw why we haven’t missed him. All he does is cut inside and pass the ball to someone else. On this occasion, 60% of his passes went astray. 2

Manager:

Horror show again from Clement who has lost sight of reality, the dressing room, and whose quotes now look delusional. He set up another Rangers XI to fail, and made yet more bewildering subs at strange times. Doesn’t utilise his squad at all any more, and looks as haunted now as Goldson. 0
