Rangers to win every match till end of season?

Celtic play Killie at home today, against a side who have already knocked the stuffing out of them twice this season, and who have every chance of getting something from this one.

But even if they don’t, and regardless of that outcome, some Rangers fans have suggested dismissing the results from the east of Glasgow because Rangers have our destiny in our own hands ‘and all we need to do is win our matches and we’re champions’.

True, but it’s not going to happen.

Not even Philippe Clement has been able to win all his matches as manager – he’s dropped five points in the league, and while it’s still outstanding, it dismisses this silly idea Rangers are going to win (or are able to win) every match till the end of the season.

There are 13 matches left, and the arrogance of some fans to suggest we’ll win every single one of them really is the same kind of arrogance they had when we won 55 – the club wasn’t the only one to drop the ball, the fans also quickly did a ‘Liverpool’ and became mega entitled and arrogant. That blew up in our faces quickly.

We won’t win the lot. We might, and should, do very well indeed, but to make a claim that ‘all we have to do is win all our matches’ would be to do something no Old Firm manager ever has – win the last 13 matches of the season.

Rodgers couldn’t, Angie couldn’t, Not even Steven Gerrard’s 55 could do that, or even needed to, true, but the fact is it’s incredibly difficult because of the split.

So, whether those fans like it or not, Celtic’s results may and probably will have a bearing on Rangers’ likelihood of the title coming home.

Yes, it’s ‘in our own hands’ now, that is true, but that doesn’t guarantee a damn thing.

And the sooner some of our fans start being honest with themselves and stop making silly assumptions that we’ll just magically win every match till the end of the season, then the better it’ll be.

There will be twists, and turns, and while we’re on the ascendancy and ‘that lot’ are going the other way, we probably have the advantage.

But let’s not assume it will stay that way.
