The most interesting part of the Mohamed Diomande signing, which now appears to be close and inevitable, is that transfer guru Fabrizio Romano didn’t get wind of it, and the Italian maestro of transfer deals is usually ahead of the game with regards deals like these.

Indeed, the absence of that story from his legendary X feed does suggest that either he simply missed this one entirely and didn’t get the ITK gossip he usually does, or, shock, the story actually isn’t true!

In fairness, aside 4lads claiming it’s a done deal (and they don’t get the info they used to), no outlet, including H&H, has said a word about this being secured – the closest we got was the latter quote tweeting another account and making a comment about it.

It has been kept very quiet if it is true, and it looks like one, if, as said, true, that will be under all wraps until Rangers announce it.

In fairness, the Fabio Silva deal was also similar – came from nowhere and within a few days the Portuguese was announced.

Rangers have been, as we’ve covered, very shrewd and astute, and keeping targets under wraps – the big deal is all the red herrings that the club and agents are throwing into the press to misdirect the outlets, including Ibrox Noise and even the ‘former media partners’ like H&H etc.

We obviously bring you what we have, but 99% of it is misdirection from the club and we have no issue with that.

As for Romano – usually tight as hell and exclusive to say the least with his big breaking news, but this window he’s not got much on Rangers, and he sure didn’t pick up Diomande.

So either the story is actually untrue, or Rangers are watertight…
