As Ibrox Noise told you some days ago, Jose Cifuentes had major doubts about Turkey’s Rizespor, and has instead chosen Brazil’s Cruzeiro as a loan club for the rest of the season.

The Turkey interest was very real, but Cifu just didn’t want to go there, and we can’t say we blame him. It’s a horrible environment to play your football in. Sorry Ridvan.

The Cruzeiro interest isn’t quite done yet, a few bits and pieces need to be sorted out, but yes, if all can be secured then the Ecuadorian will switch Govan for Belo Horizonte in South America.

We wonder if homesickness was a big part of his decision – while he was in the USA he at least was within striking distance of his homeland, but Glasgow was and is on the other side of the world.

Turkey would have been even worse.

As for Cifu’s time in Govan?

He’s a great player, he is, but he just didn’t fit at Rangers. Sadly he stuck out like a sore thumb, never looking settled, and clearly that came through at training – on top of injury, he just wasn’t in contention at Ibrox and it wasn’t working for either him or Rangers.

It’s a real shame, because he’s a unit of a boy. He’s strong, quick, tough, and his passing is razor sharp.

But he clearly wasn’t happy here – we are actually not going to blame Beale for this one, even if it was a bit left field, because the lad’s CV was strong.

The one blot was his lack of experience outside of the Americas. That didn’t stand him in good stead at all, and you either sink or swim. Edu swam. Cifuentes sank.

He’s ended up in the black hole of South American football again, we really hope he uses it well and gets his career going.

Does he still have a chance at Rangers?

In truth, probably not, but crazier things have happened.
