Cyriel Dessers to Torino and other Rangers nonsense

Not content with the fake Josh Doig story, the Italian press have now moved onto Cyriel Dessers, and in a bizarre lack of imagination, have even used the same clubs again.

So, let’s just remind ourselves:

Some Italian X outlet made up a story that Doig, then of Hellas Verona, was interesting Rangers, who were up against the outlet’s side of Torino, and the whole thing was a steaming pile of manure.

Marseille ended up being the team after him, and they missed out on him anyway after Hellas wouldn’t sell to them. He ended up at Sassuolo.

Today’s version is still Torino and Hellas, and this time it’s Dessers the subject.

Once again a fake story for clicks gains traction, gets into the Scottish press and now we’re seeing headlines and discussion on Dessers to Torino or Hellas – it’s just yet another lazy piece of clickbait ‘journalism’ designed to get eyes on screens and gain traffic.

Hellas and Torino have no interest in Dessers, he is indeed known in Serie A, but he wasn’t a player to light the league up by any means, and these clubs have no desire to spend big on the last day of the window to recruit him.

But it’s the comical laziness of the outlets using Hellas and Torino again – they could at least have used some new teams to make it more interesting.

Remember the good old days when Alfredo Morelos was ALWAYS being linked with Aston Villa and Crystal Palace? And neither of them actually had real interest in him?

This is not unlike that.

Of course, the hilarious irony would be if this was the one time the boy actually didn’t cry wolf and was being serious, but even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

But no, we highly doubt Dessers is going back to Italy.
