It is not often at all that Ibrox Noise brings Celtic into any of our articles. Sure, recently there’s the ticketing stuff, but that’s a bit different. We don’t care about Celtic nor are we interested in them, but we are interested in Rangers, and we noted a small story about that lot across the city that really does affect our club.

They apparently signed some right winger called Kuhn, and obviously with the difficulty Rangers have in bringing in new players this window we had to have a brief check of the guy.

Let’s just say if Rangers had been in for this chap at the price they paid our fans would be screaming Lammers all over again, and be split between ‘trust the manager’ and ‘get behind the team’ alongside ‘he’s pish, yet another Matondo’.

In short, if Celtic can’t sign anyone decent and pay too much for a mediocre winger, it doesn’t bode well for Scottish football in general.

The prize clubs in Scotland can’t seem to attract anyone, particularly in this window – Celtic might have the edge in the league and a slightly better-balanced squad overall but don’t pretend for a second they’re in a different class to Rangers.

The gap between the two isn’t vast. It’s not as big as the last Old Firm maybe made it look.

Rangers are not very good right now, but neither are Celtic, and the best players to come to the Old Firm this window are a Wolves reject and some Austrian Bundesliga German winger who hasn’t really made it in football and has a horrible injury history.

It’s not great.

It’s good for Rangers that ‘that lot’ haven’t really strengthened in this window, but we need to, but it does also put into perspective how hard it is for Scottish clubs, even the Old Firm, to actually find quality in January.

Even although Rangers have Europe, it’s just not attracting anyone.

Depressing.
