It is being claimed today that Rangers are interested in Leeds’ out-of-form and out-of-favour Joe Gelhardt, with the Liverpool-born 21-year-old barely enjoying 169 minutes of football for a Leeds side sitting fourth in the English Championship.

In what sounds very much like the Elland Road side keen to ship the forward out, along with his agent trying to get him a new gig, an immediate response to this news, alleged by ‘journalist’ Pranav Shahaney of ‘Breaking Media’ was ‘good move for him’.

Yes, for Gelhardt, not so much for Rangers who need a bit more than a 5ft 10 striker who can’t score.

Indeed, his career record is abysmal at best, a horrific 3 goals in 49 for Leeds, and if Rangers seek an in-form goalscorer, and overall 32 in 126, with his best career season being 20/21 for Leeds in the PL2 with 11 goals in 16, Gelhardt probably isn’t the man for us.

At the levels which count, senior, he’s a fail.

No two ways about it.

As always, if this is one the club and Clement genuinely want, and they sign him, we will open our minds and pray the boy proves us wholly wrong.

But Sam Lammers sure didn’t and even Sammy lad had a better record in the past 5 years than this shambles.

So this is an unequivocal no from Ibrox Noise, and we’d be staggered if garbage like this is on Philippe Clement’s radar.

That said, if he signs, who needs Mbappe! Welcome to Rangers Joe!
