Seven men set to miss Rangers’ trip to Spain

Rangers’ current injury issues remain irritating, and Ibrox Noise takes you through all the latest knocks, bumps and bruises afflicting the squad as we funnel through this tough period.

Incredibly, there isn’t a single injury in defence. All of Adam Devine, Dujon Sterling, James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, John Souttar, Leon Balogun, Ben Davies, Ridvan Yilmaz and Borna Barisic are, in fact, completely fit.

So that is some outstanding news right there. It’s a sign of some of the injuries progress Philippe Clement promised.

But the crisis immediately whacks us in the nose when we go forward.

Ryan Jack’s situation remains unchanged – he picked up an issue on international duty, as always, and for now is unavailable for selection. He missed Saturday and is likely to miss Thursday as well.

Nico Raskin suffered a setback in his rehab and there’s no ETA set for him yet. The recovery isn’t going well, and after only meant to initially miss a fortnight, he could be out for months depending how things go. Not ideal. He’s had a terrible second season at Rangers.

Steven Davis probably isn’t worth mentioning any more – he’s unofficially retired and his injury isn’t getting any better, and he’s also not in the playing squad any longer. Furthermore he didn’t sign a new deal and has simply been using our facilities to try to regain fitness enough for one last match.

Then there’s Tom Lawrence. He’s been put into a midfield role, which lasted about one match before he was hit by a massive setback on his ankle/calf. He will definitely be out till next year and the manager couldn’t put a date on him either.

Next up is Scott Wright – he took an untimely issue weeks ago and has missed pretty much everything since. A good tool as a second half sub, Wright’s pace comes in handy. We have no ETA on his return either.

Then we have the all-new all-singing and dancing Danilo setback – we believe he’s likely out for the season. It’s been a massive blow on him, and it may require surgery. If so, he’s done till next campaign.

Now, 5 players out isn’t actually THAT bad, Newcastle currently have at least 10, but it’s compounded by appalling selection in Europe from the ex-boss which denies us Leon Balogun and Ridvan Yilmaz, meaning 5 players are injured for Thursday and two aren’t eligible. So that’s 7 that PC can’t use.

So far from ideal.

Selections issues a big problem at the moment.
