Some Rangers fans are set to be shocked by the wisdom of the club and Philippe Clement after Ryan Kent entered negotiations with representatives from Ibrox to return to Glasgow on loan.
Turkish sources have confirmed Kent wants to come back to Rangers, but his wage at Fenerbahçe is too high and the Govan-based club is unwilling to match it – it is said to be £30,000+ a week which is not outside Rangers’ budget but for a player on loan it’s a difficult one to justify.
The reason for the opening line is while Ibrox Noise completely endorses Kent and have explained what went so wrong for the English winger in his final season, fans for the majority don’t buy it or like him and don’t want him back, therefore would be disappointed if Rangers made the move.
Well, word is they and Philippe Clement have.
It is blatantly clear that Rangers are screaming out for width, and Kent’s best Rangers days were wide on the left, with freedom to cut in – Clement is clearly open to his return, having seen the attacker at his best in the Europa League, facing his countrymen Antwerp and of course single-handedly mauling Borussia Dortmund, outclassing then-rising superstar Jude Bellingham over two legs.
And if Clement wants the boy back, we’re completely up for that.
But the wages are a sticking point for sure, with those £30K being a conservative estimate – it’s more likely closer to £40K, and that is certainly too much unless you are something special. Or called Connor Goldson…
But either way, contact has been made, say Turkish sources.
And we’ll see if it happens.
