Kieran Dowell is set to leave Rangers in January after the forgotten midfielder told his agent to work on finding a new club, preferably in England.

The switch north for the former Norwich man hasn’t worked at all, another truly pathetic Michael Beale signing, and Ibrox Noise warned at the time that this was not the calibre of player Rangers needed and was barely even good enough for squad.

Dowell’s Rangers spell has been ghastly, and into November he’s been relegated into the B team, having played no minutes under Philippe Clement and barely even featuring under the man who actually signed him in the first place.

Dowell, an average midtable Championship player at very best, came to Scotland under freedom of contract at the end of his deal at Carrow Road, having thought long and hard about what he wanted to do next, but on his few appearances at Ibrox, absolutely didn’t shine aside one half-decent performance in a friendly v Hamburg.

Just nowhere near good enough and he’ll leave if a club can be found – this one is another abysmal one on Mick Beale who really did bring in a lot of utter rubbish in the summer at high expense.

Thankfully Dowell has just been wages and nothing else, no transfer fee wasted.

And he’s not had an inch of look in under Philippe Clement.

We’re not aware of any injury he’s had recently, incidentally, and the manager did confirm he was to be in the squad many weeks ago, but that’s the only time Clement has ever referred to Dowell.

His future at Rangers is pretty bleak at best.

Very telling that he wasn’t even on the bench on Sunday.
