Rangers reach four-year deal with Ross McCausland

The mainstream media have now caught up with what Ibrox Noise (and Fabrizio Romano) told you 3 days ago, which is that Ross McCausland has indeed agreed a new four-year deal at Rangers to tie him up until 2027.

All that remains now is for the attacker to actually sign the contract.

Strangely benched for the visit to Pittodrie, McCausland admittedly lacked much impact when he arrived on the pitch for a cameo, but nevertheless his rise to the top, over the course of 8 days, was staggering, having barely been much more than a bit-part youth player prior to this.

He has Philippe Clement to thank for truly giving him a proper chance, but also a major nod to Steven Davis who actually brought him in from the youth ranks into the senior team scene, and even gave him a cameo v Limassol.

He’s never looked back ever since.

And now he’s set to finally commit his long-term future to Rangers.

As we said before, we’d pick him over Todd Cantwell who, aside that decent showing against Prague, has failed to emulate this season what he did last, and McCausland can very much consider himself a strong contender for that right berth that Cantwell is currently occupying.

Either way, that stuff is for Philippe Clement to manage – right now it’s clear McCausland is best-served at Rangers and we are better served for keeping talent like him.

Well done to Rangers’ board for pinning this one down and not losing him for a nominal fee to England.
