The BBC are running some polls about new Rangers managers, and the results as yet are rather interesting.

The names mentioned are Kevin Muscat, Derek McInnes, Jesse Marsch, Kjetil Knutsen, Ralph Hassenhuttl, Frank Lampard, and interim coach Steven Davis, and the poll is a yes or a no on each of them.

At the time of writing, the numbers are as follows:

Muscat – Yes 258, no 738
McInnes – Yes 438, no 726
Marsch – Yes 173, no 699
Knutsen – yes 433, no 289
Hassenhuttl – Yes 847, no 320
Lampard – Yes 184, no 788
Davis – Yes 113, no 182.

Meaning, by a massive distance, the most popular candidate among Rangers fans is, surprisingly, Ralph Hassenhuttl.

The lack of Graham Potter’s name in the poll was a glaring omission, but the result for Kevin Muscat tells us he’d be as unpopular as Mick Beale was.

Ibrox Noise will carry out our own poll in due course to see what the Rangers fans on a proper fansite think, but nevertheless the Austrian is the popular choice.

Naturally, in second, is Norway’s Knutsen who also gets a strong shout from supporters, and after that there’s basically no one even remotely in contention, with the rest all unpopular.

Are we surprised by how unpopular Muscat actually is? Yes, we are, and as we say, we’ll carry out our own poll and see if the numbers agree.

But for now, Hassenhuttl and Knutsen are by far the most popular choice.

No one else is even getting a look in.
