Rangers’ managerial search has already hit the ‘Billy Davies Fallacy’ whereby the longer an Ibrox managerial hunt goes on, the higher the chance of the dreg managers (sorry guys) being mentioned and lazily touted towards the gig, with, of course, Steve Bruce and Sam Allardyce mentioned as well.
Indeed, Davies, who hasn’t been in football for a decade (with good reason incidentally), has now surfaced and apparently wants the job. We’ll bet he does!
Sam Allardyce has officially announced he does want the job:
And Steve Bruce has supposedly been raised with the Ibrox board as a possible contender too.
We like all of these men, genuinely, one is a good Rangers man, one is a beloved football man, and the other is … Steve Bruce.
Being serious, Sam would love the job, Rangers are of course a gigantic football club and a huge task for any new manager coming in.
Yes or no to these guys?
Well, maybe on a temporary short-term basis possibly – we would NOT be endorsing a 35-year contract to Billy Davies.
But Sam is a tricky choice as is Bruce – neither of them, and this goes for Davies, has withstood managing at a club where winning is default. You have to win. Simple as that, and the closest Sam has been was Newcastle where he bombed badly.
These are just lazy names really, and Rangers need better. As much as we like them all.
Lenny wants it too
