Rangers have been hit by yet another potential injury blow after midfielder Nicolas Raskin sustained a calf knock at Ibrox yesterday and is due to be scanned and assessed, but the sight of his being stretchered off didn’t bode terribly well.

The Belgian midfielder, who has not quite hit the heights this season that he did last, sustained a bad reaction to a tackle and was in clear pain before being hauled off for medical care, and as yet there’s no exact diagnosis or prognosis for his situation.

It is a blow, despite his patchy form this term when he’s on song he’s one of the club’s better players, and losing yet another big name from the squad is a long way from ideal.

The one consolation here is Ecuador’s Jose Cifuentes looks like he’s closing in on a recovery which comes in good time, albeit we don’t know if he’ll make the next match, meaning Rangers, for now, are down to just John Lundstram and Ryan Jack for sure to be available.

It’s not great, Philippe Clement seeks to add a Performance Head to try to get to the bottom of these repeating injuries throughout the whole squad, a blight on the club for many seasons.

But that doesn’t stop accidents on the pitch and nothing could have prevented Raskin from getting his injury yesterday.

Rangers will be hoping he’s not side-lined for long because the November schedule is set to be pretty heavy, but unfortunately it’s likely that Rangers will be without him for some time given the nature of the setback and how bad it looked.

Hopefully it’s not a bad one.
