Lammers, Dessers and Danilo start – predicted Rangers XI

Rangers’ Scottish Premiership campaign starts today in what is already a must-win match with Celtic likely winners (2-0 at the time of writing) earlier in the day.

Michael Beale picks his first team selection of the new season and Ibrox Noise is going to plump for what we think he’ll go with. Not necessarily the team we want, per se.

So…

Butland in goals, probably.

Defence of James Tavernier, John Souttar, Leon Balogun and Borna Barisic. We think Goldson is a bit short on match fitness and it would be a gamble (nay ridiculous) to pitch him straight in. We see no chance Tavernier will ever be dropped. Ridvan isn’t fit.

Midfield will be Lundstram, Raskin and Cantwell. There’s a chance it could be Jack for this surface, and we’d see zero chance Cifuentes will be risked, albeit plastic, ironically, is all he’s played on in the MLS for long enough.

Up front? We need goals, so we reckon all the firepower could be there – Lammer, Dessers and Danilo. What’s the point of pussy-footing around after spending £14.5M on it?

So your Ibrox Noise, likely wildly wrong predicted XI:

Butland; Tavernier, Souttar, Balogun, Barisic; Lundstram, Raskin, Cantwell; Lammers, Danilo, Dessers.

We’ll see!

  1. Yeah sounds about right. Wouldn’t want to risk Goldson. Maybe MB will be daring and have a back 3 of Sterling, Souttar, Balogun.
    I doubt it though. 💙💙
