How much rests on Servette coming to face Rangers?

So what exactly rests on tomorrow night when Swiss side Servette come to down? Well, Ibrox Noise’s Derek offered a preview, showing their dangers, and while we don’t all agree on our site that they’re basically the same level as Hearts, it is telling that a side who could be that quality nevertheless are evidently a threat.

Look at Killie!

What we’re left with is a strange situation – we really REALLY want to get back to the Champions League group stage, but an Ibrox Noise poll suggests fans’ hopes are modest at best. While the lion share do not want rid of Michael Beale, equally they also don’t trust him to get things right, and the feelgood factor going into this one has taken a massive dent thanks to events in Ayrshire.

We already knew the UCL would be tough, but with a manager who doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing, a disjointed squad and unsettled players, up against a team who just knocked Genk out, it’s a tough ask.

But it all changes over 90 minutes. A win, or even a draw of any kind helps, it gives a little bit of hope, it promises potential and then when we travel to Switzerland and get mauled, it’s back to square one. But we digress. Again…

Rangers’ aim this season is not the Champions League, let’s be honest – it’s out of our and them over there’s league.

But we will say if we secure a miracle and a group spot, we are a pot 3 side now, and guess what… it’s the weakest pot 3 we’ve ever seen, pot 4 is much tougher, where Celtic are. Newcastle, Union Berlin, Lens, Sociedad? We’d rather have the Milan, Donetsk and Lazio in pot 3 thanks!

But of course we’re a million miles away from that stage, and if we even get to Switzerland still in this tie, it’s a stunner.

Are we defeated before we kick off? In some sad ways, yes, Michael Beale’s shambles has given us no hope.

We can only support and pray we’re so so wrong. Unfortunately, many of you share this sentiment.
