Despite overnight claims that Leeds United had pulled the plug on Glen Kamara’s transfer to Elland Road, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the Finn is currently undergoing his medical at Leeds and will be unveiled as an Elland Road man inside 24 hours if not less.
It brings to an end a ridiculous saga which spanned almost two years, and sees Rangers secure a fee of around £5.5M and free up wages at around £21,000 a week, with Kamara agreeing personal terms at long last.
We’re not quite sure what the hold-up was on this one, it really did go on for the whole summer, and has only just been (nearly) finalised on the day prior to Deadline Day.
This really was cutting it close, but the saga is now just about over, and Kamara finally, at LONG LONG LONG LONG LONG LONG last gets his move out of Rangers, and we finally at LONG LONG LONG LONG LONG LONG last get rid of a player who has not wanted to be at Rangers for a very long time.
£5.5M will represent one of the biggest transfer fees Rangers have had for years, only Nathan Patterson, Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey earned Rangers more since the days of Walter Smith, so it is a big slice of cash for a boy who only cost £50,000.
But assuming the medical is passed, Glen Kamara only has to sign his contract and he’s finally a Leeds player, and no longer on Rangers’ payroll.
It really was a quite extraordinary saga, and we all wondered if it would ever end, but yes, at long last, Kamara is 99% a Leeds player.
My that took too long.
