Rangers’ move for Feyenoord striker Danilo is understood to be over, after the striker admitted his plans are now for another season with the Dutch side following Rangers pulling out.
After Rangers successfully secured Nigeria’s Cyriel Dessers, some sources claimed Rangers’ deal with the Brazilian hitman remained ongoing, but that was, it seems, slightly misleading.
In reality, Rangers’ interest in Danilo mostly ended once Dessers was signed, and while the channels for negotiation remained mostly opened with the De Kuip giants, Rangers were a lot less willing to offer the big £5M+ money for the striker, including cash plus player deal.
And Danilo has accepted Rangers have pulled back on him, meaning he remains in Holland and preparing for a second season with Feyenoord.
He said:
So it looks like the £7M+ rated striker, who Feyenoord demanded that kind of money for, will not be coming to Rangers after all, and Michael Beale is content with his three attacking additions; Abdallah Sima, Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers with Kemar Roofe, Antonio Colak and Fashion Sakala seems to be Michael Beale’s final choice for the assault on the Champions League and 56.
In fairness, it’s not a bad lineup really, whether you’re disappointed that Rangers probably won’t be adding Danilo now is up to you, but Beale got the pure striker he wanted, Dessers, and is moving on.
Attention is now squarely on Jose Cifuentes and one more central defender.
