Rangers could be about to kill three birds with one stone after it emerged the deal for Feyenoord’s Danilo remains very much on and Rangers could be set to offer two players for the 24-year-old striker.
The hitman, who enjoyed a strong season in Eredivise at the De Kuip last campaign and was part of the title winning side, is said to be very, very keen to join Rangers, and the club are trying to make it happen, but Feyenoord’s asking price of around £7M+ is just too much.
Hence Rabbi Matondo and Glen Kamara are being quoted as makeweights in the deal and one or both players are being offered as part of the price.
Which would mean Rangers would ship out two unwanted players while bringing in a very much wanted one, while getting that wanted one at a much lower price than the current figure which strongly closes in on £10M.
If Rangers can pull this deal off in that form, it would trim our squad, get rid of dead wood which needs to move on, saving us wages and also securing the club a major transfer target.
It would be a very, very shrewd move and there’s no denying both Kamara and Matondo have major stock in football even if their recent careers haven’t shone – both need fresh starts and could glimmer at a new club, particularly a technically good one like Feyenoord.
Can Rangers pull this one off?
It just depends on giving a deal that satisfies Feyenoord, and they’d then sell Danilo for the original price of about £3.5M. Plus that player (or two) on top.
It would be a smart piece of business by Rangers, getting unwanted surplus off the ball and roster while strengthening our team.
If Feyenoord could just take Jon McLaughlin as well we’d love them…
U buy one u get one free🤣
