It’s not an article we’d ideally want to be penning in preseason, far from it, but Ibrox Noise will today cover Rangers’ current injury state, with a small number absent from the German camp. Who exactly is injured now and can the return of Dr Mark Waller help to ease this quickly?

Dujon Sterling:

This is the breaking news. A calf injury for the new Rangers RB, who remained at home at Auchenhowie instead of linking up with the group on the content, this is a very unwanted setback to say the least. There are conflicting reports about the severity of this ailment, but either way, he’s only just joined up with the group in Scotland and two minutes later is sidelined with an injury. Not great at all.

Tom Lawrence:

He’s slated to link in with the group when they return from Germany, but this is just ‘7-10 days’-speak from Michael Beale. There was no obvious reason Lawrence couldn’t travel and do his own gentle work like Alex Lowry did last summer if the lad was going to just join up with things in a week or two. We’re confused as to why he stayed at home – ultimately he’s recovering from knee surgery and we’d not dare put a timescale on when he’ll be fit.

Connor Goldson:

Also recovering from surgery on a foot injury which had him in a moon boot, he’s been pencilled in for ‘the start of the season’ but this is as vague as it comes. He made it to Auchenhowie without the boot but didn’t travel to Germany and his ETA is pretty much up in the air.

Now the good news is THAT IS IT! There are only three players unavailable through injury at the moment, with every other player in the squad normally available, still being so.

Kemar Roofe, John Souttar and Ianis Hagi are all completely fit now, and while we’re a bit thin in central defence, the health of the squad is very, very good.

The return of Dr Waller isn’t hurting, put it that way – Lawrence and Goldson’s issues predated his return and we will just, for now, put Sterling down to bad luck.

Otherwise, it’s a full house, and a bangingly full squad for Michael Beale. Makes a refreshing change doesn’t it?
