With the Rangers summer rebuild about to get underway in earnest, Ibrox Noise are going to be ruthless and go through all the players we’d keep at this club. That’s right, no room for sentiment, this is your definitive ‘keep’ list and we know the reader will rage at one or two of these. Or the lack of one or two others.

Without further ado:

Robby McCrorie. Obvious one, he’s the first-choice now, having waited years for this. McGregor will retire, McLaughlin is to be freed, and McCrorie has earned his shot at the first team. Rangers will need another couple this summer, but McCrorie has the jersey and he’s, literally, a keeper. Market value is currently about £1M but that will rise.

Ridvan has shown more quality than many expected – a Turkey international and he’s starting to show it. Sure, he’s not got the crosses of Borna, but he has pace and a hunger to succeed. And defends with way more aggression than the Croat. We’d like to see a lot more of him next season. We’d install him as first choice. £5M

John Souttar has been outstanding since he got fit again – unfairly lambasted for one rusty backpass, he’s been otherwise big, quick, dominant and strong. Yes, he’s actually been quick, for someone accused of being a carthorse. He’s the archetype defender and definitely worth keeping. We just hope he stays fit now. £2M but will rise.

Nicolas Raskin is a great wee player – hard working, top attitude, and he wants to be at this club. He’s been a firecracker since he joined, and he’s a big part of us for next season. A bargain at £1.75M. He’s destined to be a Belgium player we think. £8M but will rise.

Todd Cantwell is obvious – he’s been our best player since January, an outstanding performer who has made the £2M for him look an insult. He’s a Premier League-level talent, having made almost 50 appearances at that level, and with an average rating of 6.6 in England’s top flight, we have a very, very good player here. £10M but will rise.

Scott Arfield is another obvious – he’s not going to give us every match now, being that bit older, but we’d love to keep his infectious enthusiasm in the squad to keep everyone on their toes – and don’t forget only 6+ months ago he was scoring v Liverpool. He remains a superb player who’s been horribly treated by this manager. No real market value apart from around alleged £1M but probably not.

Antonio Colak is clearly up for sale and Beale doesn’t want him, but we don’t care what Beale thinks, this is about Ibrox Noise’s view, and Colak is the best at what he does. He deserves a team built around him, and we’d 100% keep him. He was 10 for 10 at matchday 10 in the SPL for goodness’ sake, and 3 in 4 in the UCL qualifiers. He knows where the goal is. £6M

And that’s it.

Yes, that’s right, that’s the lot. We wouldn’t keep a single other soul in this squad in the first team. No Tavernier, no Goldson, Borna, Lundstram, Kamara, Jack, Davis, Kent, Morelos, Sakala, Lowry, Wright, Roofe, Hagi etc.

We want to be ruthless. Keep talent, quality, good players who are showing it consistently. Not a single player in the list above is good enough for a new era of this club. Or fit enough. Or even wants to be here. There are ‘honourable’ mentions for, we suppose, Goldson, Borna and Lundstram, and keeping them as squad, depth, ditto perhaps Jack maybe but sorry, if we’re going to do this, we need to do it clinically.

If we’re talking about starters, the first group of players are the only ones we think are good enough to move forwards with. Scotty being the ‘exception’ and a unique case.

The ones we’d keep are strong for market value, Ridvan, Cantwell, Raskin, Colak being some of our strongest valuable assets now. We need more commodities like that. Souttar and McCrorie’s values will rise with performances.

But hey, what do we know, we’re just fans.
