Michael Beale finally cracked his Old Firm hoodoo with a long-awaited win over Celtic, and ultimately a very comfortable one.

Ibrox Noise takes you through our ratings for a morale-boosting and badly-needed victory over Stavros’ side.

McCrorie:

Strolled it, dominated his box, and made a couple of very good saves, one big one at 2-0. McCrorie has earned a crack at the first team and to be installed as number one next season. He is yet to concede a goal as a Rangers goalie, including two Old Firms and a European match. 9

Tavernier:

Actually didn’t have a great match, his passing was atrocious (48%), and he didn’t really influence things terribly well like he used to, but he did get in some good crosses and managed to deliver the corner for Souttar’s first Rangers goal, while offering a lot of defensive blocks. Don’t let the good feeling fool you into thinking he had an outstanding match though. He didn’t, but he was good. 7

Goldson:

Tidy from the vice captain, a couple of big blocks and interceptions, and clearly benefited from having a strong defender beside him for once. 8

Souttar:

We stood by this lad, even despite the abuse he took for ONE bad backpass, and today we see why. Didn’t make a single error, and won the ball in the air a lot. But of course, his goal was huge and we can safely say this lad is the best defender at Ibrox these days. 9

Ridvan:

His passing was a lot better than his counterpart, and he tackled a LOT! Not as accurate on the crossing as Barisic is, but lots of overlapping and working. This was a good performance from the young Turk. 8

Lundstram:

Not a heavy ball worker, but massive in the running stakes, defensively he got a tonne of work done and reduced Celtic’s midfield to nothing. Passing was ok, not great, but his attitude spot on. 8

Raskin:

He was outstanding. Didn’t put a foot wrong, ran all over the place, got in blocks, interceptions and made life hell for McGregor and Riley and co. Passing was great and saw lots of key passes chances. 9

Jack:

By some distance Rangers’ worst performer, he was a yard off the pace and nearly cost a goal or two. Offered little in an attacking sense and was non-existent defensively. He was a dud and this was a terrible ad for giving him a new deal. 4

Cantwell:

From the worst performer in Jack, to by a distance the best. The Cantwell ‘critics’ who have been in our support, talking him down and not acknowledging this lad’s talent are very silent today, or have finally revealed their Celtic shirts. He was beyond perfect. A wonderful goal, nearly another one, and pulled strings all over the place. Not every pass nailed it, but the work ethic was superb, and he’s announced himself fully, as if Ibrox Noise hadn’t been trying to tell you this since January. Bossed it. 10

Matondo:

Meh, didn’t really do much of note here, a few aimless runs and a really bad passing level (63%) – didn’t make the impact he needed to and we’d not miss him if we were to ship him out. Deserved his chance, but didn’t take it. 6

Sakala:

He will always give energy, and had two good moments – his run from Raskin’s through pass, and his fine goal, but aside this, he didn’t really offer a tonne. He just falls short for quality even if he has the pace and the energy. He did work hard. 7

Subs:

Redundant: none of them made an impact and the game was sown up by then anyway.

Manager:

Michael Beale FINALLY rung the changes and there was a massive uplift in tempo and energy. It’s true that Celtic were miles off their best, but they always want to beat us, and still gave a fair bit to this match, but Beale’s freshened XI blew them away. Football is a results-based business and this result helps Beale a lot. Why didn’t he do this before? Only he knows. 9

  1. Superb performances from Cantwell Raskin and Souttar . Excellent also by Yilmaz he is a pocket rocket . Cantwell was oozing class on every touch the little foot move was awesome where he left 2 of them for dead. Let’s move forward now . I still don’t fancy keeping Goldson or Sakala .
