Rangers fans are eagerly awaiting updates on the ‘big three’ of supposed new signings imminently to be progressed/announced.

Todd Cantwell is close to announcement, but deals for Belgium’s Nicolas Raskin and Morgan Whittaker are not over the line yet, and it is hoped for some good news on those fronts either today or over the next week.

We are now in the final throes of the window, with just 8 days left until we’re relying on those without a club, and generally the club avoids those via the risk factor – indeed, most major clubs tend to avoid players without clubs because there’s usually a reason for it.

So as it is, Rangers fans wait patiently, or impatiently as is more often the case, for the club to announce someone, particularly Cantwell at the moment.

Is this to be the start of a flurry of activity or will fans end up disappointed? The reality is we’re in for three players, all of whom we need and want, and supporters would be more than a mite upset if none of them got announced quickly.

Indeed, the more time ticks on in this window (23 days and counting) and the less news of new players filters through, the more frustrating it is for fans eager to see new names in the shirt and the club in a stronger position going forward.

Michael Beale, as you saw in the press yesterday, has confirmed what Ibrox Noise reported some days ago that we were interested in Standard Liege’s Nicolas Raskin, who is more than good enough for Belgium’s top flight (and more) but has had a falling out with ex-timmy stormtrooper Ronny Deila, and finds himself in the reserves till he gets his move.

We hope he is one that is close, but we cannot possibly say. Same goes for Whittaker – omitted from the Swansea squad, he wants his move too, but it all depends on getting everything in place before the window ends.

Will we see those announcements soon? We had hoped that maybe today, Monday, might see the start of the arrivals, but not yet.

Rangers fans truly hope it’s all very soon.
