Glen Kamara waits on his Rangers exit as January window begins
BLACKPOOL, ENGLAND - JULY 16: Glen Kamara of Rangers is tackled by Kenneth Dougall of Blackpool during the Pre-Season Friendly match between Blackpool and Rangers at Bloomfield Road on July 16, 2022 in Blackpool, England.

Glen Kamara is patently and patiently waiting for an offer to arrive this month, as the wantaway Rangers midfielder eager seeks his exit from the club, his performances the past 12 months indicating a dismal lack of interest to play at Ibrox.

While not out of contract this year, the Finnish international has frequently played for his country in a way he does not for his club, with impressive displays on that stage while playing notably within himself for Rangers, and Monday’s Old Firm draw was yet another example of this.

On respected stats outlet whoscored.com, Kamara’s rating was the lowest of all starters, at just 6.07, but no starter in the side aside Morelos produced less defensive moments than Kamara, and no starter produced less attacking ones either, while his heatmap demonstrated a lack of movement overall with his positioning mostly on the left side.

In short terms, Kamara just puts little effort in, having downed those tools many many months ago, and doing to Rangers exactly the same as he infamously did to Dundee once it was clear he was joining the Ibrox side.

The fall through of his move to Nice while both his mates (Aribo and Bassey) got their big transfers out has seen mild resentment on his part – aged 27 he doesn’t want to be stuck in the Scottish Premiership for the rest of his career, and he’s absolutely praying the French side or someone else make a serious offer this month.

Because he’ll be on it like a flash.

The problem for the former Arsenal kid is he hasn’t put himself in the shop window at all recently, with subpar displays and clear lacks of energy – a Kamara at his best would find some of the best teams around in for him, but at the moment, there’s a lack of interest.

But we’re in January now, so if a team is to make a move, now is most definitely the time for them to get the offer in, because anything over £5M we reckon Rangers would gladly take.

And we can all finally move on, even if Michael Beale claims he wants to build Rangers around Kamara. Lip service to make his signature more coveted?

Who knows.
