Rotten Rangers run ragged by subpar Liverpool

Once again a Rangers side ill-equipped for the Champions League has gone in blind, with a manager who doesn’t have a clue at this level, and been absolutely slaughtered.

See, the score wasn’t that bad, but Liverpool were much, MUCH better than 2-0 – and the worrying part is they were actually poor on the night.

That’s right, that is the same Liverpool that has struggled this season – but Rangers made them look like world beaters because, as Steve McManaman rightly said, Gio and the side played right into Liverpool’s hands and made it so easy for them.

There was one thing in common with Ajax – once again the players had absolutely zero ounce of fight, or guts – only Allan McGregor can come out with his head really held high of the starters, plus the three men at the back in fairness, but aside those four?

Cowardly, weak, pathetic, and a criminal lack of fight.

The Rangers jersey is a privilege to wear, but these guys look lost and scared at this level, as if most of them are abundantly aware they don’t belong there.

This shocking side is fast on its way to becoming the worst-ever side in the history of the competition, with 9 conceded and none scored.

Even the hapless Plzen, with their 12 shipped, have at least scored one.

Rangers players are clearly aware they’re not in Kansas anymore, and aren’t up for the fight the UCL requires.

Regardless of ability, Liverpool simply worked more, they moved more, they ran more, and they wanted it more.

Rangers players, clearly not helped by Gio’s concession that they’re not good enough for this level, just capitulated yet again.

Ok, the performance v Napoli had a bit more guts for a while, but even that one fell apart too.

As for Gio?

Completely out of his depth at this level – has only ever won a single group match of 9 as manager of Feyenoord or Rangers, and that includes 4 at home.

He’s abysmal at this level, literally doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing, and that clearly isn’t going to change.

We wrote the UCL off before it even started, but seeing a manager make all these rotten selections each match is getting tiring.

Long and short of it is the players aren’t up to it, but neither is the manager.

Time to 100% write off the UCL and concentrate on the league, if we hadn’t already.

  1. Agree totally we were lacking guts belief . It’s sickening and disrespectful to watch Kent jog around and give nothing . GVB chose once again to have Davis and Lundstram in the same patch..it doesn’t work ffs . How can Morelis get involved if there are no forward movement, no ball retention . Totally shit . Either get 56 GVB or time to go now .

  2. It could have easily been 10 if it wasn’t for Shagger, this season we are the whipping boys in Europe, Gio, please get to fuck now and take your backroom team with you, please l beg of you before you are sacked and have to leave via the back door

  3. Disgraceful, We are playing Liverpool with players in that squad that cost more than our squad combined. What is it 3 out of the last 5 finals or something crazy like that ? Was always going to be a difficult night but so many think we should have gone gun ho and get ripped to shreds on the break. Yes some players did not play to their best but ffs look what they are up against. We should just be happy to be in the champions league and take the money. Our main priority is the league, Why? Because it gets us back in next year and another pay day and maybe the board will actually spend on a few half decent players. A free kick which was unstoppable and a penalty is no disgrace. Ibrox will be different with our fans behind us and hopefully take a point and if we are lucky get 3pts against Ajax but we will need the rub of the green for that.

Until we get a better Tv deal we simply can’t compete against players of the calibre of aLiverpool , Napoli and even Ajax who signed our best player for a fee we would get 6 players for.

Onwards and upwards and 3pts on Saturday is a must and let’s show Liverpool and their fans what a real atmosphere is like.

This was a group of death with the teams drawn and as I said only happy to be at the party and as I said win the league and we are back i and who knows with a better draw we could maybe end up 3rd and in the Europa league as the truth is that’s the level we will always be at with the difference between Scotland and the top leagues for Europe.

And so much for Sutton saying they would do this and do that to us , yes McGregor had a good game but that’s what he is there for and his replacement search must start now as we need another top keeper maybe £3m to £4m bracket.

As I said onwards and upwards bears, just remember where we were a decade ago, I think as a club we have done not too bad, but winning the league is our priority this season now.

  4. Seb, We were always gonna be the whipping boys , and you are bang out of order what you are saying about Gio, it’s like asking a fiesta to beat a Porsche. And as for McGregor that is what he is there for. 1 player in that Liverpool team costs more than our entire squad, Don’t blame Gio blame the tv company’s for the money they throw at the top leagues while our league get peanuts in comparison.

Gio will bring 56 home hopefully and how many of the new recruits did Gio pick? Look on the plus side we had a solid back 3 and I would like to see us playing a 3-5-2 most league games.

My only real disappointment is Kent who has already got his bags packed and is putting himself before the club. Personally I would drop him and play someone who actually wants to play for the club.
