Rangers fans have taken to social media to express frustration that Turkish international LB Ridvan Yilmaz still isn’t being given a chance to start for Rangers, with some suggesting this was the ‘perfect opportunity’ to give him some vital minutes.

We can see where they’re coming from, it’s ‘only St Mirren’ after all, right?

Unfortunately they’re a tough team and they’re third for a reason – most fans predicted Rangers would lose at Hearts, who were also third, so why so many are discounting one of Scotland’s most in-form sides in Stephen Robinson’s men we’re not so sure.

As such, Gio clearly thinks the experience of Borna is wiser for a fixture as tough as this, and we’ll admit we’re kind of on the fence here.

Ridvan DOES need minutes, he’s barely featured more than a glance this season, so far being a completely waste of cash – but is a match against a very physical and in-form side the right match given how he sunk against Killie.

He needs minutes to get used to things, yes, and we can understand fans being upset at his continued absence from the side, but Borna isn’t really doing too much wrong at the moment and is one of our best defenders this season, albeit that’s not saying a lot at the moment.

We can see both sides.

But it would be nice to see a bit more of our new signing, who has had to be very, very patient indeed.
