Beşiktaş Sporting Director Ceyhun Kazancı has suggested that Rangers leftback Ridvan Yilmaz may have ‘followed his dream’ but that he wasn’t ready.
The Turkish supremo of the 21-year old’s former club was speaking to Turkish press and said the following about Yilmaz’ exit:
“If a player has a dream, of course, we must still prioritise the best for the club. Of course, the club’s interests come first. Putting those plans into action to help the club’s finances. But in Ridvan’s case, he asked for his dream too early, and wasn’t ready. But we wish him the best in his new career.”
Now, something interesting Ibrox Noise noted at the time of Yilmaz’ transfer was something we were widely abused by fans for observing:
“I am very happy, I am making my dream come true. I had a dream of making money and leaving this club and I made it happen.”
The ‘dream of making money’ COULD be his hopes for making his club a profit, yes, but it could also be mercenary desire to get rich, which isn’t the best motivation for a player so young.
The point? His sporting director didn’t think he was ready, and he may have been tempted by money.
Either way, the transfer is yet to bear any fruit at all and we’re almost in October.
I would like to see him get some proper game time, perhaps even try him in the left midfield maybe even instead of Kent
