GVB has delivered on his pre-match presser by dropping Ryan Kent for the first time since he took charge as Rangers manager.

The manager was publicly critical of the winger, who is said to be moving on next year, and while praising his performance against Hearts, was evidently disappointed like the rest of us with his ineffective display at Liverpool.

The winger finds himself on the sidelines, replaced by Fashion Sakala with Rabbi Matondo’s form rewarded with a start, but as expected there’s no place for Kemar Roofe who isn’t truly ready yet.

But it’s that Kent dismissal at Ibrox for the first time under Gio for the visit of Stephen Robinson’s in form men which will please the majority of Rangers fans given the apathy they’ve been holding the former winger in in recent times, not to mention the mostly poor performances.

Kent found himself benched under Gerrard as well, the visit to Belgium to take on Antwerp, and he answered the move with a stunning cameo goal.

He needs that kind of hunger and motivation back, because an on form Kent is the most lethal in Scotland.

He’s just not been there for Rangers for a very, very long time.

Is this the kick up the backside he needs, or the beginning of the end of Ryan Kent at Rangers?

  1. Long overdue imo ,one of the players who thinks he is guaranteed a place every week and also does not want to be there, considering he still hasn’t signed the deal that has been on the table for months .
