Rangers face St Mirren in what could be a significant result for Giovanni’s men, regardless of outcomes elsewhere.

Stephen Robinson’s side have been, in a word, excellent this season, and lie a justified third in the table based on their results, and the ex-Motherwell boss has worked wonders so far, currently making them the best of the rest.

Don’t think for one second Rangers will have it easy as we host a high-flying Paisley side enjoying one of their best spells in the top flight for years.

3 losses and 5 wins is an exemplary return outwith the Old Firm, and it’s even more stunning because none of their players have any more than two goals for the season, with a host of players having that number.

Indeed, just 10 goals to their credit shows how tight they are up front, but 9 shipped is third only to Rangers and Celtic.

This will be a very, very tough match – this is not a bottom-feeding side, they will park the fleet, and they will work like dogs to take something from Ibrox.

Do not assume that it’s an easy win, because there’s very few of them in the league this season when Rangers are a little off form.

Robinson? His Motherwell side were completely outstanding, and while it didn’t work for him in England, the SPL is his bread and butter.

Like Robbie Neilson, he didn’t do very well in England, but put him in the SPL, and he thrives – he knows how to manage in this division and it’s going to be a tough one for Rangers alright.

Here’s hoping we have the fight to match them.
