Celtic manager Stavros has insulted Rangers’ stunning record in Europe in recent seasons by claiming it’s Celtic who earned his club’s place in the Champions League, not Rangers.
The ridiculous comments from an increasingly bitter Ozzie came as both Rangers and his lot lost again in the Champions League, questioning whether either side was ‘deservedly’ there or not.
While Rangers have done nothing but boost the Scottish coefficient in recent years to earn this place in the Champions League single-handedly, Stavros’ lot has done nothing in Europe but hurt that same coefficient for the best part of a decade, and the man has the staggering audacity to reject Rangers’ stunning achievements in European football and claim it as Celtic’s own.
We actually had to laugh – neither Rangers or Celtic are good enough at that level, we know this and it’s patently clear.
If not for Rangers’ appalling Champions League campaign, Celtic’s would be all the focus for how tragic it is, albeit marginally less so that Rangers’ has ended up being. But with Rangers’ being truly pitiful, it’s taken the heat off how incompetent and off the pace Celtic are.
And he’s used that as a reason Celtic have ‘earned’ the right to be in this competition:
As opposed to piggybacking off Rangers’ incredible work in the past four years to earn the group slot all on our own, before truly earning our place as a result of the playoffs.
If either side has ‘earned’ the right to be there it’s Rangers – that we’ve been shown up now we’re there, isn’t the point.
What staggering delusion.
They get fired out year after year in the first round embarassing donkeys, but the green brigayd seems happy to put up with it 😁
