Striker plumps for second division as Rangers move on

Former Rangers ‘target’ Patrick Cutrone will definitely NOT be joining Gio’s men after signing up at Italian Serie B, backed by Dennis Wise and Thierry Henry.

The bizarre situation in Italy sees the former Crazy Gang member Wise and current Belgium coach Henry sign up at Como and persuade Cutrone his future is best-served in Italy’s second-top flight.

They are coached by Gattuso. No, not that one, Jack Gattuso.

And this odd little triumvirate situation in Lombardy has seen ex-Milan and Wolves hitman Cutrone join the revolution for three years.

Which does suggest if Rangers ever had even a modicum of interest in the striker, it faded very quickly amid Ibrox Noise’s extreme reservations about us making a move for the 9.

Cutrone has really struggled to live up to the (admittedly not remarkable) promise he showed for Milan, with nothing but bitty spells ever since he left the San Siro, and Rangers being in for him would have been a huge risk.

As it is, every other top-flight club agreed and Wolves shipped the striker out for second tier Como to make their move.

It’s about his level, we’d say, and we wish him luck, not that we really care.

He definitely isn’t the standard we need, but equally it doesn’t look like we’re bringing in any further strikers regardless.
