Rangers now need our biggest Euro away night since Elland Road
GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - AUGUST 09: Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst seen at full time during the UEFA Champions League Third Qualifying Round second leg match between Glasgow Rangers and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise at Ibrox Stadium on August 09, 2022 in Glasgow, Scotland. Well thank you very much Alfredo Morelos.

You came back from the summer break unacceptably overweight, have clear attitude and fitness issues, and you’ve forced Giovanni van Bronckhorst to completely drop you from the squad tomorrow night.

The squad no longer supports Morelos, and more crucially, the manager doesn’t either.

So thank you for completely overshadowing tomorrow’s titanic clash with PSV, one we were already needing 100% focus for (and already didn’t have thanks to the Hibs match taking place at all), and giving us something else to get distracted by.

Morelos’ lack of professionalism on his return from summer has been a disgrace, clearly carrying extra junk and sporting a nonsense haircut.

The fact Rangers’ squad endorses this move is pretty indicting for Morelos’ future at the club, and the fact it’s happened on the eve of such a huge match more so.

Look guys, this is a potentially £60M+ match – this is second only to the PL play off final in the Championship for the amount of value a single 90 minutes is worth.

It also has the massive prize of a UCL place up for grabs.

And here we are sitting about talking about Morelos and his future.

It is the last thing we need right now, but we will add this – Rangers have also not covered themselves in glory by letting this information leak out. This could have been dismissed as an injury, but the club has made a big circus of the reasons for his omission and that’s hardly helping either.

All in all, for us to win tomorrow night would now be the biggest European night in Rangers’ history, bar 72 and Elland Road.

Goodness.

  1. As bick jock (wallace) used to say time to show” charachter” in the face of adversity and go out get the job done wednesday ,I think we can and will do it as psv are not the finished article and imo are not one of the big guns in europe,we are a bigger club .They have the odd star and a weak defence, gk prone to the odd mistake maybe bit like ourselves. We also have a great recent record v dutch teams ie az ,feyenoord ,psv …..all to play for cmon the gers !!! .
Forget alfie ,he is a total FUD as a very famous former captain might say .

  2. Certainly will be interesting to see how the contract talks will go now. I’d guess with CL football guaranteed now Alfie and his agent will be pushing to resume them ASAP. I’ve been a fan, been frustrated by him and I’d take him on top form and full fitness any day but I think I’m also ready to move on from him if Gio chooses to sell him or freeze him.out. He has delighted us many times but he has also cost us some really important points either through either rash finishing or through suspension during his worst behavioral stages. Find another professional like Colak to strengthen our front line and nobody will care if Alfie pulls on the famous blue again. On the other hand he is still young and probably not at his scoring peak but can he ever achieve the greatness he aspires to himself? Thankfully his media circus didn’t blight our result but you wonder if our new found riches will push him closer to the door.
