Well it’s all kicking off today, and we’ll get straight to it with renewed reports that Jesse Marsch’s Leeds are back in for Ryan Kent, with just two days to do a deal.

While the window closes for Scotland on Friday (one day later) it’s Thursday for PL clubs to make their moves, and despite clinching Champions League, there remains no obvious sign yet of Kent signing a new deal and committing to Rangers.

Which has alerted Leeds to his availability and price, said to be around £15M, which for them would be modest, but for Rangers it’s viewed as not bad in the last year of his deal. His buy-out clause is reported to be £20M.

Previously it was Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds who were after Kent, and did bid on him, only to be rejected at around £10M, but their new American coach is still interest in the winger and there have been no public indications from the 25-year old that he intends to stay.

Wisely, he’s kept his counsel quiet, and his options open.

He’s been sitting on this deal for a long time, and we’ve advised that if a big PL opportunity comes up, he’s likely to take it even with UCL, because the PL is the Promised Land for English players.

Joe Aribo was off as soon as Southampton’s interest materialised, even though he had a UCL chance with Rangers.

And Kent, we’d believe, would make the same decision despite being settled up here.

In short, English players just won’t turn down the Premier League.

We’ll see if Leeds’ interest continues.
