GVB has effectively declared himself completely content with Rangers’ current squad, especially purring about midfield which he believes is completely chock a block with quality and options, adding ‘if you control midfield you control the game’.
Speaking about yesterday’s drubbing of Saints, Gio revealed he’s more than happy with his midfield and explained that the options in there give him a tonne of depth allowing him to change and alter things as he needs.
Looking at the midfield Rangers have now, it’s not hard to understand why the boss is happy.
John Lundstram, Ryan Jack, Glen Kamara, Steven Davis and Scott Arfield supply the depth, and given Gio only plays with two or three at once, it’s not hard to understand why he’s content with that.
He even pointed out yesterday’s fine display and result was without Kamara getting many minutes and without Davis getting any.
There was also attention pointed to the fact Ryan Jack managed his first full 90 since Borussia in February, which just gives even more possibilities to the boss.
What we do feel we could use is a younger talent, a strong midfielder with age on his side, because aside Kamara, everyone is 28 or older.
But only if the right opportunity surfaces.
And for now, midfield is ticking nicely.
