As we revealed recently, Glenn Middleton has neared the exit via way of Tannadice after Jack Ross’s vague denial did little to pour cold water over the winger’s transfer north of Scotland.

The flanker was today strongly connected with a £150,000 move to the Arabs in a permanent deal, and we couldn’t advocate for it more, with Ross being a confirmed admirer of the lad and likely to get the best out of him.

United would be a great move for Middleton, it’s about his level, upper SPL, and while it’s not worked out for him at Rangers, he showed glimpses early on of what he could actually do before it all went south.

Unfortunately for Middleton, he lost his way quite suddenly, and then lost his place in the team, before admitting he had things to work on.

Sadly he never regained momentum and has been finished at Ibrox for about 3 years.

Hopefully this imminent move will get a decent wee player’s career going again.
