Another ridiculous injury blow for Rangers’ Kemar Roofe

As Ibrox Noise reported to you some days ago, Kemar Roofe has been confirmed as not only missing preseason (he’s not in Portugal) but is a huge doubt for the opening month of the season as well.

The perennially-injured Jamaican, 29, has made the same number of appearances for Rangers as Filip Helander (around 70) albeit he has been in Govan for one less season, but it’s still considerably below what Rangers would want from him and the most league matches he’s managed has been 21.

Ever since he peaked with Leeds at 42 appearances in 2017, the London born attacker has found playing football hard to come by, and it’s fairly safe to say Rangers have not had the return on the circa £4M investment in the-then Anderlecht hitman.

And once again, he’s out.

Not in Portugal and now a huge doubt to appear before September, Roofe has not been a signing that’s worked out at all, and is in the same boat as Helander and the now-departed Leon Balogun of constant injuries.

Frustratingly, he’s one of the few who can fill in at RW, which remains a huge problem position for Rangers.

Well, not for now he can’t, sadly.

  1. Great striker when fit but that is rare these days. Maybe he should stop wearing child sized shin guards.

  2. Said it many times ,just gets on my tits amount of times he calls off / injured ,waste of space and wage .

  3. I know it’s not his fault but FFS!! Our financial situation means that we sometimes take a punt on good players with bad injury history that would otherwise be unaffordable to us but I think it’s a policy we have to reconsider. Roofe was always injured before we signed him, as was Balogun, and I seem to remember Helander was injured when he arrived. Then of course there was the farce of Aaron Ramsey.

    • Add J Souter…R Jack another two guys who don’t seem to be able to go on long runs without injury.
Hope Hagi .. Morelos, come back with no after effects.

  4. At least jack tries to get fit and plays through the pain barrier ,this guy makes no effort , also dont know why we signed soutar after helander nonsense ,we just dont learn sometimes .
