Randers Sporting Director Sören Pedersen has confirmed/claimed Rangers (and Celtic) are interested in his striker Stephen Odey but that no bids have been received ‘from Scotland’.
The 24-year old Nigeria international (this is our new Belgium, it seems), a centre-forward by trade, has a career of modest success, with 13 goals in 32 in Denmark and 16 in 60 for Zürich in Switzerland, so he’s not exactly a prolific goalscorer, and Pederson making these claims does suggest he’s trying to drum up a bit of interest in the forward.
Odey is no slouch, and obviously he now plays for his country but that 13 in 32 for Randers is his best so far in a pretty modest quality league does suggest he’s not particularly impressive any more than Ross Stewart is.
This isn’t a link we’re especially excited about and as we say it screams of a club boss trying to hawk a player off for profit more than anything else.
But, as normal, if Gio is genuinely interested, we trust him totally and he can clearly, as he reportedly can in Ross Stewart, see something we can’t.
16 in 60 ffs, reminds me of itten,NAW
surely we can do better
WATP🇬🇧
The problem we have as a club is that the decent strikers cost cash and plenty of it ,or want to play in better leagues ,it will be tough to get a great striker ,so maybe a work in progress or kinda unknown from a small league our best bet .I am sure ross wilson trying his best with budget etc .
I hear lukaku available for 10 million loan fee and 325000 a week ……haha.
